Eight Glasses A Day (Free)
REVIEW – “Drinking Enough Water?”
A simple, easy to use, and stable app, Eight Glasses a Day is just like the name suggests. With a slick modern design and excellent visual imagery, Eight Glasses a Day helps you keep track of how much water you drink every day. Using this app, you will gain awareness of how hydrated you are. This is particularly important if you consume a lot of coffee, tea, or soda.
Practical and useful, Eight Glasses a Day encourages people to stay healthy and to monitor their hydration daily. You can quit the app and return to the same level you were at previously, making it easy to navigate quickly, without having to enter in information again. Eight Glasses a Day is great for motivating people to get moving and to drink water throughout the day. While the app is very simple, it works efficiently to remind you to drink water. After you have consumed your eight glasses, the app rewards you with some facts about why drinking water is important.
Keep track of every glass or eight ounces of water you drink. The app is easy to use without any explanation or set up necessary. Currently there are just 3 buttons on the toolbar. The first button denoted by a wheel, flips the screen and offers you two options, one to reset automatically to 12 AM and the other to turn the icon countdown on or off. The second button is a reset button that enables you to clear your previous entries and refill all glasses simultaneously. Finally, the third and last button depicted by an “i” symbol simply gives you the name of the developer, the Emblem Design Group.
The app has a mobile instantaneous update instead of manually having to do it. Another cool feature of a recent update is the ability to see how many glasses you have left to fill immediately on the home screen, similar to the way you see how many new messages you have in your email or your telephone.
While the interface is easy to use, I would recommend some additional changes such as an alarm or vibrate mode to let you know when you are half-way done or have met your goal for hydration. It would be good to set your own goals and to drink more than 8 glasses of water a day. Having a reset button that is customizable depending upon your own schedule would also be useful. Additional features could include a calculator for optimal water intake and an ability to export data.
Considering that the app is free, the application works very well and I find using this app easy, convenient, and fast. I love that I can take my iPhone anywhere and know instantly how much water I have left to drink for the day!
