REVIEW – “This awesome puzzle/platform game will leave you spinning!”

This is one of those games that I could literally play for hours.  In fact, I had a hard time stopping once I had started!  Flipt is an interesting cross between a “platform” game and a “puzzle” game.  The basic idea is that you have to move your character around the screen and figure out how to get to the “end” which is a little icon of a running man.

This sounds like a simple concept but it is so much more complicated.  There are several types of icons and also movable blocks with the levels.  There are some icons that will change gravity to come from the direction that the arrow was facing, some that will move blocks around the screen, and others that will destroy certain blocks that are in your way.

Overall the music, sound effects and visuals are very good in this game.  While the graphics aren’t so incredible that they stun you, they are very good and don’t distract at all from gameplay.  The menu’s are very nice looking, although the font used for the main “titles” in the menu’s is a little hard to read, it also adds to the “street” feel of this game.

While the graphics, sound and concept of this game are all very good, no game can be considered great without a great controls scheme.  Thankfully that is exactly where this game excels!  The controls feel surprisingly natural.  To move left or right you just have to touch the side of the screen that you want to move towards, and jumping is as simple as tapping a second finger on the screen.

Another thing that helps to make this puzzle game much more confusing is what the game is named after as well.  You can “flip” your character to the other side of the platform you’re standing on by turning the device upside down.  You can only do this in areas where you there is a space on the other side though, and you cannot do it through the moveable/destroyable boxes.

I have played very few games that I feel were even more fun after learning how easy the controls were!  If you love fast paced strategy games that will really make you think, this is one of the best games that I have seen in the App Store.  At just $2.99, I would definitely recommend that you head to the App Store and download “Flipt!”
