Find My Device – ($.99)
Version 1.0
REVIEW – “Find and Track your device anywhere!”
There are a number of apps out there that seek to help recover your phone if it is ever lost or stolen. Find My Device touts features that the other apps have, and while it does have a few nice features, it could be more user friendly.
When you open the app you are required to sign in and register with the site associated with the app. What it never really tells you is that this sends you emails if someone finds your device, allows you to send messages to your phone… which is basically the same as sending a text message.
After you have signed in you can start playing with the features of the phone. There is absolutely no info anywhere to let you know how the app works or what the different settings are. I was a little lost trying to figure out what it meant by the different spoof page settings and when and how those ever came into effect. Playing around with the device and the different settings showed no apparent changes, it was only after I reported my phone “found” that I realized that it would change what the person would see if they ever opened the app again after having opened it the first time to report it found. A little strange and confusing, and something that you would never really figure out without trial and error.
Now you can choose how often your phone updates its position the less it updates the less it drains your battery. This allows you to track your phone from the web page. So if you lose your phone you can see a satellite image of where your phone last was. Sadly this will not help you find your phone within your own home. (Any app that will help me find my phone in my home would awesome, especially when I have it set to silent : /) The app will narrow it down to the street by simply zooming in on the satellite image.
Despite the fact that the app gives you no real information about well anything, it does do what it says. You can track your phone online and send messages to the phone once it has been reported found. While I am not sure what really distinguishes this from sending a text message but for the odd man out that does not text message on their iPhone.
The other problem I see with this app is that it is clearly labeled as a phone finder on the main page, if someone stole my phone, I really think that getting rid of that app would be the first thing on their mind, and all you have to do is turn off the phone until then. So if you are hoping this app will help you recover a stolen phone, I am not quite sure it will be perfect for that situation.

I bought this app thinking that if I lost my phone, it may help me to find it. But I can’t figure out how to use the app. If I lost my phone, would I call you, text you, email you… who is you and how do I reach you? I assumed I would receive a phone number or email to communicate with in the event that I lost my phone.
I just purchased this app and it tells me I am not registered.
How do I confirm my user name or password?
I bought the App, register a username, password & my email address. Each time I try to use the App it asks me to login, but takes me in an endless circle saying my login FAILED. This sucks. It was only 99 cents, but is still a total rip.
