Creamy Ice ($.99)
Version 1.1
REVIEW – “Build elaborate ice cream treats for hungry customers!”
For anyone that has ever wanted to run their own ice cream shop, Creamy Ice may be just the game for you. With a few short-comings this game is a great start to what could be a very interesting game.
When you start the game you get to run an ice cream cart. You have the ability to create ice cream cones with two types of ice cream and whipped cream. As you progress through the game you unlock other flavors and ice cream containers to make the game a little more challenging.
To play the game you simply tap the ingredients in the correct order in order to match whatever the customer wants. If you make a mistake the ice cream gets thrown away, but I never noticed any sort of penalty. I felt like there seemed to be a bit too much time before the customers got angry for the game to be really challenging.
The fact that you can satisfy every customer easily takes away the challenge of the game. You also simply level up to better shops and flavors simply by earning money but you never get to choose what the next reward will be. This also takes some of the fun out of earning money and trying to get high scores. Though I never had any idea if the scores I was getting were any good because there was no benchmarks to reach or expert goals to reach in order to move in the levels.
The controls are very easy in that you simply tap the ingredients which means that if you know what you are doing you can fill the orders very quickly. Children might move slower and therefore have a better challenge with but an older crowd might find it a little lacking.
The graphics and sounds were nice enough. Very colorful and fun which makes this game really seem geared toward younger children. But if you do manage to play through the game you can unlock two other modes: time trial and endurance.
All in all I think this game is great start and with a few little fixes it can be a great game that everyone can enjoy. I think the addition of difficulty levels could really add a great deal and made the game more attractive to more players.
