REVIEW – “Retouch photos like a pro with your mobile device!”

There have been more than just a few apps for photo editing in the App Store.  One of the things I have noticed is that a lot of times they try to do a lot and end up being useful for almost nothing!  Thankfully that is not the case with this app.  If you have ever wanted iPhone App Review - Colorsplash 1to do professional looking black and white and just add a little color here and there for effect then ColorSplash will not only meet but exceed your wildest expectations!

Something that I would definitely recommend that you do when you download this app is watch the tutorial video.  The first time you open the app it will prompt you to check it out and it is worth it.  While this app is extremely easy to use, the video does an excellent job explaining how it works and how to get the best results from it!

Once you are done with that you will need to load a photo into it to get iPhone App Review - Colorsplash 2started.  You can either take a picture with your iPhone’s camera or use a picture that you already have saved.  Once you load your picture you will see two menu bars.  One at the top and one at the bottom of the screen.  The bottom one gives you some basic functions like controlling whether you are adding grayscale or color to your photo, while the top menu offers a wide variety of options from a help button to brush sizes and an “undo” button.

When you load up your photo it will start out in grayscale.  To add color to it all you have to do is touch the “Color” tab in the bottom center of the screen and then drag your finger around in the area iPhone App Review - Colorsplash 3that you want to color in.  Everywhere that you touch while in “color” mode will turn that area into the color of the original photo.  If you accidentally color an area you didn’t mean to you can either use the “undo” button in the upper right corner or you can also touch the tab in the lower right corner to go into “Gray” mode, where everything your touch and drag over will revert to gray.

One thing that I found a little bit strange is that at first glance there is no way to change the “brush” size from its default setting.  However, if you watch the introduction video you will learn that the option to change the iPhone App Review - Colorsplash 4brush size within the app is merely disabled by default.  So before you get to busy with this app I would highly recommend that you go to your “Settings” app and turn on the “Show slider in app” feature.  Why the developer would disable it by default I am not sure but at least the functionality is there!  While you have it open there are a few other options there that you might like to check out as well but they are all pretty self-explanatory.

From the moment that I began using this app and saw how easy it was to make my photos look this amazing I knew thatiPhone App Review - Colorsplash 5 this was going to be a must-have app for any photo enthusiast with an iPhone or iPod Touch.  While it may not have a ton of different photo-features, there is not an app available that makes this amazing affect even possible, much less this simple.  The best part of it all is that this app is only $1.99!!

I’ll finish by saying this.  My wife loves photography but is not that into computers.  She literally played with this app for hours and created some of the most amazing photos I’ve ever seen from her! If you have been waiting for that amazing app to take your photography to the next level, I just don’t think that you’ll ever find a better bang for your buck than ColorSplash!
