REVIEW – “Sponsors donate money. You choose where it goes.”
As we have recently seen the devastating effects of the earthquake in Haiti, we have also been able to see an overwhelming response from people around the world. With the constant-presence of technology in a very impatient world, it’s no wonder that information is shared and money can be donated faster than ever. A simple text from your phone cannot only be added to your phone bill but can be retweeted, posted on facebook and emailed to the masses – all within seconds. CauseWorld, the newly released iPhone App not only helps you donate, it helps you spread the word.
It’s easy to say that you want to help and it’s completely different to actually do it. If you were to be honest with yourself, how many 
hours a day do you spend on your iPhone or iTouch? How many times are calls answered, games played and emails checked? To add one more minute to your daily iPhone checking routine, probably wouldn’t really matter to you but with the help of CauseWorld, it could mean the world to another.
CauseWorld is an easy to use app that uses the GPS to determine your location. Once determined, a list of eligible businesses, restaurants and shops will appear. From this list, you can chose to enter any of the establishments and gain 10 Karma Points – that’s it. You literally tap on the green button to the left of the establishment name, and you have started earning points that can then be “cashed” in and a donation will be made to the charity of your choosing.
For those of you who are skeptics or want a way to beat the system, there are some rules. You can’t click on the karma points of a business if your physical location is too far away – you actually have to go into the store or restaurant. You also can’t go click-crazy and 
click a bunch of places in a short amount of time. This app, although easy to use, really is based around a policy of honesty, which personally, I think is great.
Within this app there is a live feed where you can see what people in your area are donating to and what types of “badges” they earn. Other than that, the only thing left for this app is to donate to a cause. In addition to the nine causes that are always listed, there is also a “suggest a cause” button and more recently added, “provide relief for Haiti”. I found it especially great that they added the Haiti button after the major earthquake and disaster. I truly believe that it is in people’s nature to help, sometimes they just need a little nudge or an outlet to do so.
Bottom line, the CauseWorld app is free. It takes up a very small icon on your screen but I believe that it can honestly help make a difference. Even if you don’t use the app every day, your karma points are saved and you can donate at will. Use when you can, but remember it’s there. Remember there is also someone out there who needs your help and what’s an easier way to help than click a green button on a screen of a device you are already constantly clicking?
