REVIEW – “Keep track of all your accounts and expenditures right on your iPhone.”
Keeping track of where your money is going is more important than ever and now you can have all that vital information right on your iPhone. Cash Trails allows you to keep track of all your accounts and write out where all your money is going so you will never have to worry about being in the red again.
What I like about this app is that it does a lot without having much of a learning curve. Right when you open the app you are given a screen to add new information to your main account. You can scroll down to choose another account such as savings, checking, credit or create your own. Then you can either add money into the account, such as the current balance or an income check. Then you can start tallying up and adding your expenditures such as money spend on food, gas, rent, or just about anything as you can create your own category. You can even use the notes section to be more specific about what you spent the money.
Then as time goes on you can check reports to see what percentage of money you are spending on food, gas, etc. This is a great way to see where you money is going and where you may be overspending. 
You can even group certain expenses together such as expenses that you can claim for business or expenses that might have been used on that weekend out of town so you know why there are certain fluctuations or seemingly weird additions.
But perhaps one of the most useful features that it is completely easy to export all the information to your computer. Just a few taps and you have all the information on a spreadsheet right there on your computer screen.
This is great for people who like to set budgets as you can see at a glance how much money you have spent on food and then try and reduce that to fit your budget or realize that you have a little wiggle room. You can even check and see how much you spend on food every month to be able to average out a budget and plan for the future.
I like that I can easily see a large number of different reports to really get a strong idea of how I am spending my money and get a better understanding of how to save and keep track of the money coming in and make sure that the number going out is significantly less.
I haven’t hooked it up to all my accounts yet but I really cannot wait because getting my excess spending under control is a new priority for me.
While I love everything that is here, I would like to have a way to sync it with my husband’ s accounts so that they spending that he does can show up on my iPhone so I can keep track of our joint account. Though it is not a major inconvenience for us to check in with the other’s spending at the end of the day.
This app is certainly one that will eventually pay for itself.
