For many of us that run our businesses on networking or just have a lot of people to keep track of, finding the right business card can be really difficult. CardPro allows you to store hundreds of business cards in an easy to use app.

The way CardPro works is that you simply take a picture of the business card and then you enter in a name and company in order to label that card. This is all well and good to some extent. The app takes you immediately to an alphabetical list by name and gives you the option to search.

There are no other ways to sort, so for example you remember the company name and not the individual’s name, you will have the fun task of scrolling through all of your card listings to find the right one.

You also do not have the ability to add any extra information beyond simply name and company. This can be frustrating if you have additional contact information that is not on the business card or you simply want to add some notes on that contact.

The final issue with this app is that for people who do not have the 3GS (like me) have a camera that is not as good as that of the 3GS this means that the card may not be entirely legible using the iphone’s camera. There are also problems if (like my card) the font is not black on white, but instead white on black or something of the same. I noticed that in this way the cards were somewhat harder to read.

This does not mean that the app is not worth trying out (especially now when the full version is free, normally the price is $.99). The app is currently looking for people to offer suggestions on improvements, so it is quite likely that a newer version will resolve most of the issues. So grabbing the full version while it is free, can definitely pay off later.

Now from this app you can easily mail the picture to someone else that is looking for the same information. But on the other hand the app does not offer any real solution to back up the information. Which can be troublesome if the app crashes and you lose all the information. So until this is fixed it might be a good idea to keep all your cards in a safe place anyway. This app will save you having to keep them on hand constantly.

I recommend giving this app a try and then if it improves you will be able to have an even better app and you will not have paid anything for it.
