Bust A Word (.99)

Version 1.0
REVIEW – “For all of you word enthusiasts, download this game, it is definitely worth the 99 cents.

As we have already established, I love word games. I would say that although I enjoy playing all types of games, especially in the form of an app, word wordpress_bustaword_01games are by far my favorite. When I discovered the iPhone app Bust A Word, I was immediately intrigued and had to try it out. Unlike some of the other word game apps out there, this was not disappointing. I think that one of the main reasons I liked this game was the ease and variation that this game offers.

Bust A Word, similar to a scrabble game, gives you 28 tiles that you are to arrange into words. The really great thing about this is that there is no board and not a lot of restrictions in how you play the words. The tiles can be arranged horizontally and vertically and words can be played off of wordpress_bustaword_02one another. For example, if only have one B but two really great words, you can play one horizontally and one vertically. The timer begins on the first screen with 180 seconds, once you start playing words, if you choose to “bust!”, the words you have already formed will disappear and more seconds will be added to the timer. Be careful though, if you have more than five word tiles left, once the others in play disappear, you can’t use them. So my suggestion is to only “bust!” if you are running out of time.

Once you decide to “bust!” your letters, and if you have less than five tiles left on the board, the remaining tiles will be added to the next screen. It basically just keeps repeating itself until you can’t play any words.

What is great about this game is the freedom that you have. I am often annoyed at games like Scrabble because you are limited to playing words that in wordpress_bustaword_03some way connect to one another. In this game, you don’t have to at all. If you want to line up your words so that they basically form a list, one word has nothing to do with the next, that’s fine. But if you want to double up on letters or just play more words, double them up.

The game is simple. The interface, although a bunch of letters, is not distracting – it actually fits with the theme of the game. The idea is great, the time is just enough to get you moving at a quick pace and the levels are virtually endless. Play the game as much or little as you want, always having the option to end the game. For all of you word enthusiasts, download this game, it is definitely worth the 99 cents.
