Review – “A unique strategy game that will keep you playing for hours!”

One of the most popular genres for phone apps has to be the strategy game. There are all kinds of apps that fit this category in the iTunes App Store, and because of this it can be difficult for developers to come up with a concept that is both unique and fun as well. Bee logic is both fun and addicting, and it is available for just $0.99!

When you open up Bee Logic the main menu is very basic. The options screen offers a button to turn the sounds on or off, and there is also a high scores list and a “help” screen that will tell you how the game works. The directions are very thorough, but they were a little bit wordy for my taste. The basic concept of the game is that you have to try and fill the hexagons with the same color.

Once you’re ready to get started just touch the “New” button and the game will start up right away. In the lower left corner of the screen you’ll see the color that your next tile will be when you place it and a meter around it that shows how much time you have left to place it. If you don’t place it within the time limit you lose a life.

In the upper left corner of the screen it shows how many livers you have left. The rest of the in-game meters are in the upper left corner. The top display shows how many points you have, the one below that shows your current level, and the bottom one shows how many hexagons you have filled/how many you need to fill to finish your current level.

As you are playing you can only place a tile in a space once. There is no deleting tiles or moving them. if you fill a hexagon and the tiles you use are not all the same color then you lose a life. at first glance this may seem impossible, but you also gain lives for every 1000 points you score. This combined with the fact that completing a hexagon will make all of those tiles disappear makes for several different interesting strategies that fan be employed.

Once you really get into this game it can become very addicting. my only real complaint about it is the lack of replay value due to my competitive nature. While there is a built-in high score list, there is no way to compete with your friends or on a global level. To me there is nothing more satisfying than playing a strategy game for several hours and seeing yourself on the global high score list!

Besides the non-existent social aspect though this is a very solid game for just $0.99 in the App Store. if you enjoy strategy games this game is really a must try, and it wouldn’t surprise me if we start seeing some other knock-offs of this game concept in the future.
