REVIEW – “Loads of stuff to play and enjoy which is why I rate this game a 4/5.”

Arroic is one of my recent Christmas purchases that I just had to give a loud recommended App shout towards. The concept and hook of the game is a fantastic pleasure, it has 62 levels to enjoy and 6 balls to play with in addition to collecting 124 trophies which can honestly keep you occupied for ages.

In a nutshell the game is a crazy golf/puzzle pool sort of game. The premise is simply to draw a series of arrows to push the ball successfully from A to B. The game however has ruthless obstacles and hazards that provide an ample amount of challenge and darn it moments. These traps range from sticky goo to bottomless pits, annoying rotating cog wheels and flying zeppelins that really do test your patience.

It’s a tricky game that takes a bit to get to grips with, but once you build an understanding of how the ball and arrows work it can be quite a rewarding experience. I definitely recommend reading the help section for the tips as when I first played it was quite a different game, especially after discovering how the scoring works.

What I like most about the game is its strategy and skill elements, its nice analysing and experimenting with the environment to figure out the best possible route to use fewer arrows, collect all the coins or to get the fastest time… or all of the options combined.

Hearing the fail sound when winning no trophy was something I thought of as a punishing kick on first play. You can play the game for either time or score, the gold time trophies are reasonable to attain but the real angst is when acquiring the gold score trophies. This is something for gamers that you will either love or hate as to achieve them you have to collect as many coins plus reach the finish as fast as possible. This is most definitely difficult with the later levels in mind. Progressing through the game however unlocks different balls that have abilities and perks that make the levels and trophies easy. But I would recommend sticking with the standard or basketball for those who like a challenge.

The game also has Agon achievements that are ok, there’s a few in there which are quite a challenge to collect. There are also online leader boards to upload and submit scores that are empty at the mo but I can imagine it being sweet to sift through worldwide scores.

Annoying downsides to this game are the occasional crashes halfway through a game (but I’m sure they’ll be an update some time or another) and the controls can be a bit unresponsive at times too.

All in all the game play is great, it’s full of varied levels and it’s brilliant to collect all 124 trophies, the 6 balls and 35 achievements. Loads of stuff to play and enjoy which is why I rate this game a 4/5.
