1Password Pro(Free)
Version – 2.2.1
REVIEW – “The easy way to securely store important information!”
I have seen a variety of apps both free and paid that have claimed to do what this app is designed for. the majority of them have never managed to find a way to be truly useful on a regular basis. Thankfully, 1Password Pro has managed to come up with a format
that is both extremely safe, and at the same time, extremely useful!
When you open this app up the first thing you will want to do is go to the “settings” tab at the bottom of the screen. Once there go to the “Security” page and set the “Unlock” code and the “Master Password.” If you don’t set these first then anyone that picked up your iPhone would be able to view the information in that you have stored in 1Password Pro!
Once that is done you are ready to start adding information into the database. To add information just touch the “Add” button at the bottom of
the screen. There are four different options in this menu: “Login,” “Note,” “Wallet Item,” “Generated Password.” These allow you to enter in simple login information, Notes that have information you will need later and even information such as your Bank Routing and
Account numbers! The final option, “Generated Password,” will also allow you to create secure passwords of random numbers and letters for your accounts!
One of the greatest things about this app is the peace of mind. Not only does this app have great encryption, but it also has up to two passwords that protect all of your content! Even with all of that protection 1Password still manages to retain its easy use. It does this by making very clear what information it needs and by always being quick and responsive. There is also a free version if you are interested in trying it out before you shell out some money.
My favorite feature in this app is its ability to help you log into websites. It does this by either using the in-app browser, or by using a simple javascript within Safari that helps you open up iPassword and then
copy and paste your login information. This was not extremely difficult to set up, and while there were a few little annoyances with it, most of them were just a result of some of the restrictions that have been placed on the developers by Apple.
The learning curve of this app is extremely easy. I was setting up accounts and accessing information in almost no time at all! This “pro” version of 1Password has most recently been priced at $7.99, and yet Agile Web is giving it away for a limited time! The only thing I really have against this app is that it will only sync directly with Mac computers. That being said, this app is totally worth it, even if you don’t own a Mac and can only use it on your iPhone and/or iPod Touch, it would be worth at least $2 or $3. If you are still deciding whether this is something you would be interested in, I would go ahead and head to the App Store now. This giveaway will probably not last long!
